Does This Header Make My Butt Look Fat?

You can be honest. I made it last night using Scrapblog. I first heard of this site yesterday from Carrie at Buzzings of a Queen Bee. It is the awesomest--so easy to use. I am certainly no graphic designer, and my skills with photo editing software are junior-grade. I don't understand all the tools in Photoshop. But Scrapblog lets you click and drag and make pretty pictures, and it all works just like you expect. I can't even imagine how much thought and work went into making their builder so intuitive. I hear there's a great video tutorial on the site, but I just started poking around while listening to Anderson Cooper and 29 other commentators talking about the debate.

One fun thing about Scrapblog is that all their "stickers" make it really easy to add little holiday motifs to your header, if you're into that. I like what I made, but I don't know if I'm married to it. Change is hard, and I love the familiar. I liked my green page, because I love green. I read something about how green is the most soothing color because seeing green is like giving your rods and cones a massage. Science, people. But I was starting to feel like I was in a fishtank that was overrun with algae. So I'm trying this. I am not sure it sets the right tone. What do you think? I'm still playing with it, so pardon my dust! And pardon me for saying "butt." I am vulgar.

Scrapblog is the newest Thing I Love. Check it out, and scoodle over to Diaper Diaries for more love objects. Other things I love are here, here, and here. And here.

I love it! Isn't Scrapblog so fun to use? It is addicting because there are so many holiday things to choose from if you are into that...you can change it all the time. Great job!

This is my first visit to your blog, but I like the header. I haven't heard of that site either. I feel your confusion. In my mind, I know just how I want my blog to appear. It just is harder to make it a reality.

Oh this is very cool. I am totally inept in this department, and should have been playing with Scrapblog rather than watching the debate - because that just annoyed me.

I think the header looks great. I can't do anything like that so I hire it out. Going to check out scrapblog right now!!

I feel your pain, Bigbinder. And thanks guys! I think I'm going to keep the header. It's tempting to keep playing, but I wonder, how often can you change your blog header before people think you have multiple personality disorder?

And yeah, you gotta try it--it's really easy. I made one for a friend today too. Thanks again for the rec, Carrie!

Have you checked out Dooce.com? She changes her header ALL THE TIME and it's what makes her one cool blogger. She's, like, a celebrity blogger ; ) I like yours but confess it's not what I expected having viewed all your decorating stuff. I thought it would have more of an urban vibe. It does feel friendly and mommish, which is not to say it's a winking minivan : )

Exactly, Susan! That's what I mean about the tone. I'm not sure this header is exactly right for me. Like maybe it's too sweet? But then my excellent friend David pointed out that I have a "nature/culture" tension going on with the bird house. Whew! :)

And yeah, no winking minivan, but I actually DO drive a minivan! And it is awesome. LOL. And to answer your other question, the "menage" in the header is French for housework. Maybe I'm trying to be too clever, but ain't that always the way?

I know why the caged bird sings...what does it mean that yours is out of the cage?

Hmm, I think the bird is taking a moment to consider the cage. It is a very elegant cage, after all. But birds prefer that you use the term "cagehome."
