FRI-dee

Growing up in Pensacola, Florida, that's how I and everyone around me pronounced "Friday." Sundee, Mundy, Tuesdee, Winnzdee, Thursdy, Fridee, Sat-ur-day-uh.  The days of the week. Although I guess some people say Satterdee.  Sounds great to me.

I also pronounced Florida "Flarda."  I guess I still do when my guard is down.

All this is to say that I hope you're havin' a nice Fridee.

I had my last radiation treatment today. A-W-S-O-M-E-B-A-L-L-S.

I started celebrating yesterdee.  I happened to be going down there alone, so I sat in the coffee shop eating grits and reading Catching Fire on my iPhone.  Then after treatment, I got a pedicure before I had to pick up Hank.

The polish I picked was OPI's London Bridge is Falling Brown. It's a little brown.  But the lady who did the pedi was the one with the really strong hands, and I swear to you, she pushes on this place on the bottom of my right foot and it is the only lesbian experience I have ever had.

Then, today, Matt drove me down there.  The therapists gave me a little dove pin and thanked me for letting them take care of me. Sweet.  Then we just came home and Pretty Neighbor had brought me some balloons and a loaf of banana bread. Double sweet.

And I am not finished celebrating.  I can't decide if we're talking a champagne thing or more a Fudgie the Whale thing.  Or both?

Just now I was lying on my dining room bench admiring my Halloween decorations.  Ooh, at the grocery store today they had buy-two-get-one-free pumpkins, and the only ones they had left were kinda scratch-and-dent. But I am going to spray paint those babies. Oh yes I am.

This brings you entirely up to date.  Now the kids are upstairs having their nightly wrestle with Matt and I have a glass of chianti.  I am sure that there's a "House Hunters" waiting for me to watch it.

Hot, hot, hot action.  You?

I have a glass of Syrah and a Hawaii Five-o to watch. Too bad I already watched the season premiere of "I SHouldn't Be Alive" last night. I wish I had one of those or an "I Survived" to watch EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK. Damn, I can't get enough of those shows.

Yay for no more radiation!!! I want to see London Bridge is Falling Brown.

I am addicted to the 15 minute massage place at the mall. THere's one girl there, Lily, who is the BEST. Most of the men are super harsh. She's firm but not painful.

Hot replying-to-blog friday action:

Can you elaborate more on reading a book on the iPhone? Usually, even people with undergrad degrees in English freak out at the mention of electronic reading. In fact, I think I even poisoned one courtship by suggesting that a Kindle could "really make moving less of a hassle." Like, can you really get into the e-book or whatever? How much of the pagey paginess do you really need?

Double-fisting here: the dregs of a tipperary and a full glass of malbec in front of me.... or, more precisely, "between me and the tv", where the first season of _damages_ is streaming, courtesy of "netflix 2.0: material disks via the USPS are for suckers."

You should be here. I think I'm way behind the game on this, but Glenn Close is equal parts evil and sort of relatable.

We're so happy for you, dude! You keep lying on that bench and drinking that chianti, because you're awesome!

Woo to the hoo, congrats on being DONE!! I'm so so happy. My aunt and uncle came over today for a couple hours to hang with Shay, so I got my first post-baby pedicure, which I thought was pretty awesomeballs. Now, we are watching yesterday's Project Runway and I am drinking a beer. So basically, I have been celebrating your last day of radiation right along with you. Please get yourself some champagne, a cosmo, some chocolate, and some nachos, stat; keep celebrating!

Congrats! But how cool would it have been if they gave you a Mockingjay pin instead of a dove?

Ooh, and I saw London Bridge a bunch just recently. In London. It's not the cool bridge, that's Tower Bridge. But the do light London Bridge up with red lights at night.

Champagne AND Fudge the Whale for sure.

Thanks guys! Rick, funny, I DID tell them I would be their Mockingjay if they would let me have free parking.

Are you still in foggy London town?

Melon, I get what you're saying and I used to be a believer in the pagey-paginess of reading. But sometime early in grad school I got over that. The only neg with the e-reading is that you can't pass the book along after you've read it, and I love to do that. But fewer books piling up, and with my tiny iphone screen I can read with one hand and turn pages with my thumb.

WOO! Congrats on being finished with radiation! That is awesome.

I, too, love reading on my little phone. (I also have an English Degree, and it's nice to have my guilty pleasure books in electronic form so no one can see my secret shame.)

Again - yay! for no more radiation.

Another benny of iPhone lit: you can read in bed without a light to disturb your unconscious, but no less significant, other. Also, my verification word? Phert. I guess whoever spelt it, dealt it.

Yay! Congrats!

Nothin' says "celebrate my victory" like a good episode of House Hunters. Love that show!

Yay for being done!
It's Satterdee here now but pretty much the same. Reading blogs, listening to my kid yell about having to go to bed. Good times.

Delurking to say congrats on the final treatment! Surely, you deserve to celebrate for the Satterdee and Sundee as well ...

Congrats on the end of radiation! What are we doing, you kindly ask? Right now, just getting up--it's morning, here--but yesterday I did one of my favorite "down time" activities...went out to the monastery just outside of town, and bought a couple of their (marvelous) face creams, then wandered through the (gorgeous) church and cloisters for awhile, before heading home (will be posting photos on my own blogs, soon). Gotta prepare for my ESL students, today...fun, in its own way,...while ignoring the rain that blew in over night.

Star, that sounds like a dream Sunday. I am so envious that you are waking up in Italy every day!

Thanks for delurking, Laura!

Many congrats on the treatment completion and thank you again for the advice. Here's hoping I'm half as upbeat (soon) as you have been!

I'm so glad you're finished! Congrats! Now you have more time to spray paint whatever comes your way! Whenever I see the gray-green pumpkins in the pumpkin patches I think of you and the white pumpkin from last year.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoyed the heck out of that whale!

Okay, I'm late to the party as always, but... WOOHOO!!! If I was there, I'd totally bake you a pie.
