Fun Toy Flursday: Cakewrecks

Tomorrow, we head up to the mountain house for the long weekend. A beloved friend from California is joining us, and we are bringing three computers, despite the fact that there is no internet up there. I guess you could say maybe we should be staying home and working? Oh well. Meanwhile, in honor of Matt's birthday this weekend, I offer you Cakewrecks, a collection of ill-conceived and/or poorly executed cakes. Please go have a slice of awesome.

Enjoy the weekend and stay sweet!

I can't get my head around the one with the babies! Bizarre. That's a really funny blog...there are some "cake typos" that are pretty good.

What am I missing about the clown?

I think it's that the x's on his eyes make him look like a dead clown. Or that's what I noticed!

Most of the stuff on that site--I kinda see what the people were going for. But I cannot figure out those carrot babies.

I assumed it was a sheet carrot cake to be cut into squares for a baby shower. Does no one here understand bakery grammar?

I am disturbed by the lack of a 1:1 baby:carrot ratio.

But why do the babies have to ride the carrots, um, Dr. Strangelove style?

Do you want the babies eating the carrots? The Carrots riding the babies? Just the babies' heads popping out of the cake as though they were carrots? Maybe, just maybe, the decorator is not a glassy-eyed bakery zombie... maybe he is a big Kubrick fan, so much so that he lovingly photographed his creation and posted it to the internets. Forgetting, of course, that we would make fun of it (or posting it in spite of this knowledge, with the hope that it might find purchase in the fertile mind of like-minded bakers).

Next up: Lolita-themed trifles. They're Humbert-ably delicious!
