Happy Mother's Day Monday!

That's a thing, right? Like Easter Monday is a holiday in Europe?

How did y'all spend your Sunday?

I slept until noon.  I don't mean "noon" like, I slept really late but it was only 9:45 or so. I mean I straight up slept until 12:00 pm. Then we went to lunch and sat outside to eat. The weather was gorgeous. I drank a margarita.

(A note: this last week's celebration of Cinco de Mayo prompted me to bring something to your attention. There is this practice of calling margaritas "'ritas." Have you heard this done? It grates upon me. No need to be informal. Please accord the margarita the respect of using its full name.)

Then Matt asked me what I wanted to do, and I told him that I wanted us all to go to the pool, and that I wanted to sit in a lounge chair and read a magazine while he played in the water with the kids. So that's what we did. I was going to go for a pedicure afterwards, but we stayed too late at the pool. So I'm going to execute that part of the plan sometime this week.

Then later, Matt cleaned up our bedroom while I reclined on an enormous pile of pillows. I consumed another margarita at that point, while I peppered him with witty banter. He submitted to it with good grace.

It was a wonderful, relaxing day, and I would take it on repeat if some sort of Groundhog Day situation were available.

Hey, my sister has committed to blogging every day in May. Go by and give her some support! I have half a mind to make the same pledge, but I'm afraid I might sprain something.

I hope your weekend left you ready to meet the challenges of the coming week.

Sounds like a fantastic weekend!

I agree. "'rita" is a repulsive term for the glory of a margarita.

I'm glad your day was relaxing --

Wow! What a lovely day! Being honored and waited on by loved ones is so fun. That Matt is a wonder, isn't he? I had a lovely day : jeep ride down unknown mountain roads, lunch at a Hardees( at least I didn't have to cook), and messages of love from my beloveds. Doesn't get better than that! Blessings upon blessings.

That does sound like an ideal day! I don't think I could sleep till noon anymore, but then, you've always been the more talented one. Wish I couldn't been there to have a margarita with you!

And thanks for the shout-out! I don't know what's gotten into me.

Happy Mother's Day Monday to you! Sounds like you had a lovely day. I need to lie by a pool soon. :)

Btw, Easter Monday is a holiday in Australia, too. This year, we had a 5 day weekend--I am not even kidding you. And also: free healthcare.

To celebrate Mother's Day, I had my first ever Bloody Mary. It's left me with mixed emotions. First, of course, is the extreme happiness of finding something that I may need to drink weekly. Fine...daily. But, the happiness is tinged with a little bit of sadness because I was dumb and waited this many years to try something obviously heaven-sent.

Then I spent 10 hours in airplanes and airports trying to get home. Probably I had a Bloody Mary before all of that.

Also....'rita? i don't think so.

A two Margarita day is never a bad thing.

If you get that day Tivo'd somehow, send me a copy.

"Rita" is almost as obnoxious as "'za". IT'S PIZZA. Two syllables. It doesn't need to be shortened.

"Ritas"? People really say this? We're getting so damn lazy it's ridiculous. I blame texting.

It sounds like you had the perfect Mother's Day! I'm glad you were able to have such a lovely day with your peeps.

I agree with all here that "rita" is obnoxious. No nicknaming the drinks, please!

I had a coworker who used to refer to a spreadsheet as a "spread." Bad mental images. I gave her imaginary smacks upside the head every time she said she was looking over a client's spread.

Glad you had a wonderful Mother's Day! On into Mother's Week...

I am totally in favor of a Groundhog Day type deal with Mother's Day. Mine was great, except...my son had a sleepover birthday part at Great Wolf Lodge the night before. WHO DOES THAT??? He was returned to me at 3 in the afternoon, grumpy, red eyed and tired. I gave him to his father as an early father's day gift. :)
