Tiny Snow Things

We just this hour got back from a weekend at the mountain house in North Carolina, where it snowed enough to hold a person's interest all day long, especially if that person is a kid. Hank, I'm sure, doesn't remember last winter. This white stuff? Totally new.

This crew gets to play in the snow maybe once or twice a year. And our friends from Florida joined us, and those folks NEVER see snow, so OH BABY, it was a big deal. The chilluns started playing just after dawn, I kid you not.

There was also birdwatching. Look at these purple finches. Up close, they are kind of punk rock.

And Mom had the cute idea to make tiny snowmen instead of big. Much easier to do while sitting on the porch, and your hands don't get as cold. Hank was really into this.

I am getting into the Inaugural spirit here, and I'll post more soon. I hope you all had a cozy and warm weekend!

Funny, because we have plenty of snow and have not played in it ONE TIME this winter. It's just been too cold. Well, the girls grab snow and eat it from the picnic table every time we walk from the house to the garage, but that's about it.

Oh I'm so jealous! It snowed here on Saturday night- but only enough to leave a tiny bit of dust on Linc's car. I didn't even realize until it was over!

Tiny snowmen, what a great idea.

What fantastic pictures! It looks like you guys had a great time and kept the house keys in a central location. We went to NC last summer and, except for the bear that came up to the trash cans in broad daylight, loved it.

I love your picture of the finches! We have a lot of snow, but it's been too cold to go out to play. I think it reached a high of 20 today.

Brrrr. Those pictures made me cold but jealous. The mini snowmen idea was brilliant... no snow here in FL.

Great pictures! And wow, snow! Hard to remember that it's winter, here in San Francisco.

Beautiful photos! Don't kids look especially beautiful with those rosy playin-in-the-snow cheeks!

Wow! Your friends from Florida must be very lucky friends indeed! I'm sure they had a blast, and their kids will remember this trip forever.

Nice photos, by the way. You must have years of training in the art of photography. Somehow I just can't achieve the same look with the camera in my cellphone.

Hoot, don't blow my cover! I want everyone to think I suddenly acquired some talent in taking pictures, rather than a fancy camera.

And we got pretty lucky with the weather--snowy but not in the single digits. And Cathy, LOL, we have like 14 extra keys now!
