My White Jeans Make Their Debut

hank and me on couch

Of course I waited until after Easter like any decent Southern woman, but then I had a lot going on with the whole post-op recovery thing and I didn't bust out my white jeans until today. This not-so-great phone pic was snapped at the furniture store. The jeans performed just fine, though as you can see they are "distressed"--whatever. The fact that I had on pink underwear, which I realized only after I was fully dressed, did not deter me from sallying forth.

Oh, and why were we at a furniture store? Well you may know that slipcover-tucking accounts for about 80 percent of the metabolic energy consumed by my body. I decided that I do not have to live this way. Life is short and all. So I bought two new couches. That is not one of them. I got two of the JC Penney knock-offs of the Pottery Barn Basic slipcovered sofas. You can see 'em here. I know, JC Penney! They have furniture! I haven't been in that place in ages, but these couches have gotten good reviews and they really look just like the PB ones, for much less dough. I went to actually flop on them before making my decision. The flopping was good, so I went for it. I got the "natural" color.

I think that my life is about to improve dramatically because of this move. And in the time I recoup from the tucking and retucking, I may brush up on my reading French or sequence the human genome, who knows.

I think Ardian has these same JCP Pottery Barn knock off couches for her new house!!! Great minds think a like. We bought new couches a few months ago and it does improve my quality of life exponentially. Go you!

We put slipcovers on our cream colored couches (the dogs you know)and I spend hours tucking and tugging. It gets old fast.

The look on Hank's face says, "This woman is my universe." I love it.

PB knock offs? That is BRILLIANT. I've never been able to handle slipcovers. Congrats to your metabolic energy on its recent windfall.

JC Penney is no Target, but it's not too shabby.

I know I am already tiring of the slipcover on my den/office/studio loveseat!

You look great by the way!

Love the new sofa, isn't furniture shopping so fun? We got a new leather sofa about a year ago and I swear it was a new lease on life. That is until I remembered I had a dog that makes little scratchy marks on it with his clickety click toenails. Ah, it was good while it lasted..... :)

My first visit to your delightful blog via Lecia Phinney and I have added to to blogs I follow. Enjoy your flopping! PS I love the bowl seen behind you in the top pic of this post. Have a lovely day! xoxox

I have such a love hate for PB. Some really lovely and fun things, and then some very common overpriced things that make me want to meet the person who would actually pay $200 for an over-sized empty pretend wine bottle. No matter how pretty it is...

The jeans look perfecto. (the distressed makes me mad tho' bc it's distracting, right?)

It makes me laugh to think of a "natural" colored sofa in our house. It would never ever survive. I love the look and I'd have to move into my own place to have it. Just think of the throw pillow possibilities!

We have a custom, neutral couch in the living room....that the boys are not allowed to sit on. I never thought I'd be one of those moms until I had sons who grew and multiplied. They are, however, allowed on the leather couch in the family room and the old armchair and the two older couches in the basement. Unless they have played sports and haven't showered.....
Oh for the days when they look at you like that and wear a t-shirt stating, "100% LOVE". :)

Oh, I love the new couches! We just got rid of our red one that looked like that since the kids spilled on it like crazy. We got the Ikea Stokholm and I love it. But I miss my comfy fabric one. Can I come over and sit on yours?

You totally pull off the white jeans. I could never pull those off but you do.

"distressed" white jeans?? You are SO TRENDY. And able to pull it off, which I could not do.

btw, saw your "featured blogger" button up at Anna's. You're big time!

I have the PB daybed knock off from JCP, and it is very nice at about half the price of PB.

And don't tell anyone, but I once bought boots there too.

I agree with Beth. Hank's look and his T-shirt say it all.

Congrats on the couches and the jeans.

The white jeans are definitely working for you. As long as you put them away before Labor Day, I think we're OK. ;)
