I am in Los Angeles, having flown here today to go to a conference and stay with my friend Erika. I will also hook up with Gretchen and Beth.
When I got here and Erika picked me up, I said, "It's like everyone looks familiar here. Why is that? Do I really know them?" And she said, "It's because they look like they're from California and you haven't seen Californians in a while and when you get here you're like, 'Oh hey, there you guys are.'" So maybe that's it.
She picked me up and we had a one martini lunch. Then we sat and looked at the ocean while we talked of important things and she tried my new lip gloss.
Then I went with her to her neighbor's house. The neighbor is out of town and Erika is minding her house. I was inspired by the decor and took pictures of the kitchen.
Is it not inspiring? Lime green cabinets, baby. Love it with the marble.
Then, while walking around the block, I trash-picked a rattan side table from a neighbor's rubbish.
So I guess you could say I am making myself at home.
Please have a nice Friday. I have been so busy this week with the business of getting back on track after vacay, I haven't had time to pop in. I've missed our little talks though.

First of all...
Honey, "hook up" doesn't mean what it used to. While "hooking up" by the modern definition might be interesting and even...fun...it would certainly be uncomfortable afterwards.
I am, however, really excited to see you!!
Also, you are suffering from something that I long ago dubbed "movie deja vu". Which is a strange phenenomenon that happens when in LA, wherein one feels like one's been somewhere that one knows they hasn't, only to realize that actually one's only seen it in about 100 old tv shows and movies from the 80s.
And yes, we are all taller and better looking here.
So jealous because you get to meet Gretchen and Beth. And you trash picked the table. I'm not even sure what neighborhoods in Houston are the best for this; probably the Heights.
I audibly gasped when I saw that kitchen. I love it. I'm about the make out with that range.
Give my love to Gretchen
Seriously? That's a human's kitchen? I thought it was an in-store display.
While I adore that kitchen, I am uber jealous that you get to see 'Ka and Beth (I don't know Gretchen, so the jealousy doesn't extend there, though I'm sure she's a peach!). Very jealous -- as in I haven't been able to get back to SoCal since I made my cross-country move, and I miss those women beyond the power of words to convey ...
Enjoy some SoCal for me, wontcha?
I AM IN LA
this is not acceptable.
HELLOOOOOOO MEEEEEE
You trash picked a table while on vacation? You are my hero. How are you going to get it home? Better yet spray paint it and leave it as a hostess gift.
We had so much else to chat about I didn't even HEAR about the lime green kitchen. That is stunning. It was so fab to see you in our neck of the woods. Can't wait for Blissdom!
When your friend agreed to watch her neighbor's house, did she know there was a toddler in the kitchen?
Beck, isnt that very close to the color that you bullied you mother and me into letting you (making me) paint our kitchen years ago?
Becky, i am really hoping you can see my frown right now. LA? Man, oh man. Can't a girl get a shout out while you're in town. I would have taken you for a two martini dinner.
=)
Hope you are well feted and have a ball. And don't do anything I would do!
