Taking care of a sick child when you're sick yourself is something they should, like, devise a simulator for and have prospective parents get certified in. Maybe instead of those boring childbirth classes. I'm thankful that Hank was out of the woods, he slept all night. But at one point I awakened to hear Matt being sick in our bathroom and Laura throwing up in her room. Stereo! I went to Laura. That poor thing had a worse case than the grown-ups.
The stomach virus is a great weight-loss plan too. I lost three pounds of annoying liquids yesterday. Tonight Matt and I are mostly recovered. We just feel like we got punched in the gut. I drank a gatorade today and good grief, that was gross. Instead, my electrolytes are being replenished by all the "Gossip Girls" I have tivo'd.
I hope this finds you well. xoxo--B

Yuck! That is no fun. I have been in your shoes--sick while trying to care for a sick child, and it is truly awful. Hope Laura is better soon, bless her heart.
Your mentioning losing 3 pounds reminds me of that line from "The Devil Wears Prada": "I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight!"
I hope you are all feeling much better really fast.
I remember taking care of then 2 year old Kelly, she had a stomach virus, I was pregnant with Alex. Drew was out of town on a business trip, lucky him. Kelly was thankfully past the worst when I came down with it. I put her to bed in her crib, said to Kristin, then a very grownup 5, "honey... mommy's going to bed (it must have been early evening) you put your self to bed when you get tired, I'll see you in the morning". She, miraculously and thankfully avoided the bug.
Hope your home is "bug free" soon and you're all back to normal.
They also need to give a course in taking care of a sick husband...Linc hardly ever gets sick but when he does, man alive!! I think he's past the worst of it, but let's keep our fingers crossed I managed to escape the outbreak!! See what he gets for comparing your house to Rwanda?!
Wow, I hope everyone is all better soon! That must have been a doozy over there because moms are not allowed to get sick! Stomach bugs are the worst. Two years ago Hubs woke up with one on Middle's b-day party day. We were taking 8 boys rollerskating and to a restaurant for pizza and then home for cake. I had to do it all myself. Luckily 1 guest canceled so I was able to fit everyone in one vehicle.
I guess you had to tell the Sat guests to not come over....
So sorry to heat the whole family's down for the count. Wishing you all a swift recovery.
Thanks guys. Yes, I called them and said, "Do not bring your kids here! Stay away!"
Kelly, I hope you don't get it either! It is pretty short-lived, though, for adults.
Oh no! I hope it passes quickly for Laura.
Gatorade IS gross.
You are worse off than the pilgrims, who at least had a few people who didn't get sick that first winter. Taking care of a sick child when you are sick yourself is a special kind of torture. I'm glad you're on the mend!
Oh man. We all had it at this time last year and it still makes me queasy thinking about it. I am not exaggerating when I say having a stomach bug at the same time as your kids is the worst thing in the entire universe. Where are the sister-wives when you need them?!
Sending you virtual electrolytes my friend.
Oh man, that sounds awful! Hope you guys are all on the mend. I had a head cold this week that Seamus luckily avoided, but he is of course going through a growth spurt and needs to eat every 20 minutes, or maybe it's every 2 hours--it all sort of blurs together. Man oh man, getting up at all hours of the night to care for a child when you are sick and need to sleep is a special kind of torture.
Get well soon SubMat! Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to wash my hands...
Ugh - stomach flu is the worst!! I hope the whole family recovers in full in no time.
