Here is Laura on her way to a party a little while ago. Her original intent for this pink tunic thing was that she would be a ninja, but she didn't care so much for the little daggers, as she deemed them not quite as fabulous as a long blonde wig and a parasol. So I am not eager to use the word "geisha" in describing my 8 year-old daughter's costume, but I think that's what she's achieved here. She says she wants to get a black wig before Saturday night, so that will eliminate the confusing Hannah Montana element and perhaps lend greater thematic coherence.
Let's go back in time, shall we? All the way to 2006.
I loved that costume. Every bit of it was Gymboree, which as I've lamented, is not the thing anymore. But I must say, I do really enjoy seeing what she comes up with.

I had enough trouble watching my daughters grow up. I may have to be medicated at my grandaughters' milestones.
Aw, look how grown-up she's getting! That fairy picture is exactly the age I still picture Laura at--that has to be the year you guys left California, right?
She looks so pretty! And yes, I agree--a black wig would be less Montana-ish. If you don't wanna go with "geisha", you could say Mulan! That 2006 photo is too cute! Gosh, she sure has grown up.
That's right, V. And it's funny, because that year after I had Hank, I thought of Laura as such a big kid. But now I look at that picture and she's a baby!
she looks just like her dad in that picture, except for the long blond hair of course!
Wow. Did you just happen to have a green parasol hanging around the house? Man, you people are prepared.
Let's call that Hannah Montana meets Asian chic. Geisha sounds a little too tawdry for how cute she looks.
Oh, no, she's definatley Mulan - ledgendary warrior princess.
She is looking SO GROWN UP. Yikes! And I love her sense of style.
Laura is so bold with her fashion choices! She so much cooler than I was at her age. Love it.
Adorable! Where did she find the parasol? Be sure to post one of her in the black wig. She'll look so authentic as a . . . you know, Japanese girl.
That girl's got style!!
Hey, daggers can be fabulous too.
Maybe she could be a ninja in DISGUISE as a geisha?
